What is the Human Right to liberty from Poverty?

A life of dignity is every person's human right. This is true no subject where he or she lives or what his or her sex, race, or ethnic origin may be. And every woman, man, youth and child has basic needs that must be met if he or she is to live in self-respect. A life of poverty means that basic needs go unfulfilled, and basic human rights are violated.More than 1 billion people live in poverty around the world, and a great majority of them are women. Women's poverty results in extensive violations of their human rights. When a woman faces a lack of access to adequate housing, food, or health care, her human rights are violated. When she lives in an unsafe and unhealthy environment or lacks access to clean water, she is not enjoying her fundamental human rights to a life of self-esteem and to an adequate standard of living.

Poverty can also be caused by violations of human rights, particularly women's human right to non-discrimination. When women are deprived of equal access to employment opportunities, are paid less than men for equal work, or are prevented by law or custom from owning or inheriting land, they are made weak to poverty. When women are denied equal access to education, when they do not have the equal right to decide on the number and spacing of children, or when they have an imbalanced share of the responsibility for raising children, their ability to earn an income and to be protected from poverty is greatly compromised.

Bold start on new planning vision for Gold Coast

A new plan is underway to deliver the Gold Coast’s Bold Future vision.

Gold Coast City Council has commenced work on a detailed review of its Planning Scheme – the document which guides where and how the city evolves.

When complete, by mid to late 2012, the new scheme is expected to reflect community views and aspirations identified through the recent Bold Future project.

A program management plan to guide the review was outlined to Council’s Sustainable City Future Committee today (24/2). Public input will be invited as the review proceeds.

Committee Chairperson, Councillor Peter Young, said it was good news that work had begun on preparing a new pathway for future planning.

“A complete planning scheme review is possibly the most exhaustive process any local government can undertake,” Cr Young said.

“The current scheme is almost 2000 pages, in four volumes and has 1500 maps. The review will need to revisit the entire scheme and consider new population projections, demographic changes and the expectations of the latest South East Queensland Regional Plan. It will also include considerable public consultation and a lengthy State Government approval process.”

He said that given the enormity of the task, and to comply with State legislation, Council only undertook a complete planning scheme review every eight years.

“So it is a relatively rare opportunity to set fresh directions for the city, to meet new community expectations.

“The people of the Gold Coast, through Bold Future, and Councillors through the Visioning program undertaken in 2008, have identified strong elements and outcomes that will guide and influence the new planning scheme.

“This is our chance to produce a new blueprint for the city’s future, based on those visions.

“In fact a new planning scheme is Council’s single most effective tool for protecting the Gold Coast’s environment and our lifestyle and providing housing choice and job opportunities.

“It can also help us build safer, more accessible communities where we are close to all the services and facilities that improve our lives.”

Cr Young said the program management plan would go before the full Council for endorsement

The best-known mummies are those that have been intentionally embalmed with the exact reason of preservation, mainly those in ancient Egypt. NASA's Space Shuttle, officially called Space Transportation System (STS), is the United States government's present manned launch vehicle. At launch, it consists of a rust-colored outer tank, two white, slender solid rocket boosters (SRBs), and a winged orbiter. The orbiter carries astronauts and payload such as satellites or space location parts into low earth orbit. Normally, five to seven astronauts ride in the orbiter, with two pilots, eight have been carried, and eleven could be accommodated in an urgent situation landing. When the orbiter's work is complete, it fires its orbital maneuvering thrusters to drop out of orbit and re-enters the Earth's atmosphere. During the descent and landing, the shuttle orbiter acts as a glider and makes a completely unpowered landing. Five spaceworthy orbiters were build, of which three remain.
The Shuttle is the first orbital spacecraft considered for partial reusability. It carries large payloads to various orbits, provides crew rotary motion for the International Space Station (ISS), and performs servicing missions. The orbiter can also recover satellites and other payloads from orbit and return them to Earth, but this capability has not been used often. However, it has been used to return large payloads from the ISS to Earth, as the Russian Soyuz spacecraft has limited capacity for return payloads. Each Shuttle was designed for a expected lifespan of 100 launches or 10 years' operational life.

Table is another term for family although there is the difference in that a table is usually a multi-set of rows whereas a relation is a set and does not allow duplicates. A table has a particular number of columns but can have any number of rows. Besides the actual data rows, tables generally have related with them some meta-information, such as constraints on the table or on the values within particular columns.

The data in a table does not have to be actually stored in the database. Views are also relational tables, but their data is considered at query time. In non-relational systems, such as hierarchical databases, the isolated counterpart of a table is a structured file, representing the rows of a table in each record of the file and each column in a record.

A cloud is a visible mass of condensed droplets, frozen crystals suspended in the atmosphere above the surface of the Earth or another earthly body, such as a moon. The branch of meteorology in which exhaust are studied is nephology.

On Earth the condensing matter is typically water vapor, which forms small droplets or ice crystals, typically 0.01 mm in diameter. When surrounded by billions of other droplets or crystals they become observable as clouds. Pawpaw (Asimina) also known as a prairie banana or Ozark banana, is a genus of eight or nine species of small trees with large leaves and fruit, native to southeastern North America. The genus includes the largest edible fruit native to North America. They are understorey trees of deep fertile bottomland soils. The name, also spelled paw paw, paw-paw, and papaw, probably derives from the Spanish papaya, perhaps due to the superficial similarity of their fruit. Pawpaw is in the same family Annonaceae as the custard-apple, cherimoya, sweetsop, and soursop, and it is the only member of that family not confined to the tropics.

The pawpaws are shrubs or small trees, reaching heights of 2 to 12 m tall. The leaves are alternate, simple ovate, entire, 20 to 35 cm long and 10 to 15 cm broad. The northern, cold-tolerant common pawpaw is deciduous, while the southern species are often evergreen. The fetid flowers are produced singly or in clusters of up to eight together; they are large, 4 to 6 cm across, perfect, with six sepals and petals (three large outer petals, three smaller inner petals). The petal color varies from white to purple or red-brown. Pollinated by scavenging carrion flies and beetles, the flowers emit a weak scent which attracts few pollinators, thus limiting fruit production. Larger growers sometimes locate rotting meat near the trees at bloom time to increase the number of blowflies. Asimina triloba is the only larval host of the Zebra Swallowtail Butterfly.

The fruit is a large edible berry, 5 to 16 cm long and 3 to 7 cm broad, weighing from 20 to 500 g, with numerous seeds; it is green when unripe, maturing to yellow or brown. It has a flavor somewhat similar to both banana and mango, varying significantly by cultivar, and has more protein than most fruits.
History
The earliest documentation of pawpaws is in the 1541 report of the de Soto expedition, who found Native Americans cultivating it east of the Mississippi River. The Lewis and Clark Expedition depended and sometimes subsisted on pawpaws during their travels. Chimpanzee, often reduced to chimp, is the common name for the two extant species in the genus Pan. The better known chimpanzee is Pan Troglodytes, the ordinary Chimpanzee, living primarily in West, and Central Africa. Its cousin, the Bonobo or "Pygmy Chimpanzee" as it is known archaically, Pan Paniscus, is establishing in the forests of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Congo River forms the boundary among the two species.

Anatomical differences between ordinary and Pygmy Chimpanzees are slight, but in sexual and social behavior there are marked differences. Common Chimpanzees have an omnivorous diet, a troop hunting society based on beta males led by a relatively weak alpha, and highly compound social relationships; Bonobos, on the other hand, have a typically herbivorous diet and an egalitarian, matriarchal, sexually accessible behavior. The showing skin of the face, hands and feet varies from pink to very dark in both species, but is usually lighter in younger individuals, darkening as maturity is reached. Bonobos have longer arms and tend to walk upright more often than the Common Chimpanzee.

Africans have had contact with chimpanzees for millennia. The primary recorded contact of Europeans with chimps took rest in present-day Angola during the 1600s. The record of Portuguese explorer Duarte Pacheco Pereira (1506), preserved in the Portuguese National Archive (Torre do Tombo), is perhaps the first European document to acknowledge that chimpanzees built their own rudimentary tools.

The first use of the name "chimpanzee", however, did not happen until 1738. The name is derived from a Tshiluba language term "kivili-chimpenze", which is the limited name for the animal and translates insecurely as "mock man" or possibly just "ape". The colloquialism "chimp" was most probable coined some time in the late 1870s. Science would finally take the 'pan' occurring in 'chimpanzee' and attribute it to Pan, a rural ancient Greek god of nature. Biologists would concern Pan as the genus name of the animal. The Aardvark (Orycteropus afer) is a medium-sized mammal native to Africa. The name comes from the Afrikaans/Dutch for "earth pig", because premature settlers from Europe thought it resembled a pig. However, the Aardvark is not closely related to pigs.

The Aardvark is the only surviving member of the family Orycteropodidae and of the order Tubulidentata. The Aardvark was originally placed in the same order as the South American anteaters because of surface similarities which, it is now known, are the result of convergent evolution, not common ancestry. For the same reason, Aardvarks bear a striking first-glance resemblance to the marsupial bandicoots, bilbies, and numbats of Australasia, which are not placental mammals at all. The Aardvark is now in its own genus, Orycteropus.

The oldest known Tubulidentata fossils have been found in Kenya and date to the early Miocene. Although the relationships of Tubulidentata are unknown, they are almost certainly ungulates. They spread to Europe and southern Asia during the later Miocene and early Pliocene periods. Two other genera of the family Orycteropodidae are known besides the extant one: Leptorycteropus and Myorycteropus. A genus from Madagascar called Plesiorycteropus may be related to the Aardvark.

In the past, some individual species of Aardvark were named; however, current knowledge indicates that there is only one species, Orycteropus afer, with several subspecies; 18 have been identified but most are regarded as invalid.

The most distinctive characteristic of the Tubulidentata is their teeth, which, instead of having a pulp cavity, have a number of thin tubes of dentine, each containing pulp and held together by cementum. The teeth have no enamel coating and are worn away and regrow continuously. The Aardvark is born with conventional incisors and canines at the front of the jaw, but these fall out and are not replaced. Adult Aardvarks have only molars at the back of the jaw.

In my experience, every event in our lives carries a message. Of course, some occurrences are more significant than others. These significant events are considered signs or messages from Spirit, or Higher Self. The purpose of all signs is to get our attention. For what reason? To get us to “Stop, Look, and Listen!” Listen to what? Our intuition.
An Ancient Tradition
Native peoples relate to every form of life as being alive, filled with energy and always communicating something to us. The key is in learning how to receive the communication.
“Omens are a way Spirit communicates with us in the physical world,” states shaman Ken Eagle Feather in Traveling with Power. “You can decipher omens from virtually anything, but pay special attention to unusual occurrences, whether it’s the strange behavior of birds, or conversations in which someone says something that catches your attention in a special way, or when a book falls off a shelf in front of you. What Is a Sign?
A sign—by definition of its purpose—is anything in our outer environment that gets our attention. There are two broad categories of occurrences that are considered signs.
Anything Out of the Ordinary
Any occurrence qualifies as a sign that is so unusual, strange, weird, or out of the ordinary that it grabs our attention. It may be an event that is out of sequence or out of the usual pattern. A sign is any inexplicable happening, or any occurrence outside the box, outside our normal experience. Any object or event that stands out in some way is an omen. It may glow, feel electric, or is more pronounced than normal—like louder or brighter than usual. You might feel a resonance within your body when you’re next to an object or person. Synchronicity Rules
A second major way that Spirit gets our attention is through synchronicity. Synchronicity grabs our attention by repeating events or patterns beyond the range of mathematical probability, beyond what could be considered happenstance. Synchronicity is a meaningful coincidence—a coincidence that takes on significance because it is very unlikely to normally occur. For example, it’s synchronistic when you encounter the same number, topic or person’s name more often than usual in one day. What synchronicities are showing up in your life?
Intuition Is the Arbiter
Our intuition is the ultimate decipher of the signs life gives us. Intuition is direct knowing—direct insight or perception—of the truth. Often you get an instinctive hit about the import of an event. You simply sense the meaning, have a “gut feeling” or just “know” what the Universe is trying to tell you.
This sixth sense may be immediate—or delayed. The meaning of a sign may be clarified later by a dream, vision, movie, song or image appearing soon afterwards in your life.
What If Your Intuition Isn’t Working?

Living in our world today can be very stressful. While some of the stress that we experience is actually useful for motivating us, a point can be reached where it becomes very harmful, physically, emotionally and even spiritually. Knowing how to manage and even reduce the harmful effects of stress on a daily basis, of staying balanced and centered as we encounter the many stressors of everyday living, is crucial to our well being. Among other things, taking care of ourselves will necessarily involve us nurturing our physical body, of eating healthy foods, of exercising. Learning how to take care of ourselves in this respect is also very important for everyone as our experience of stress can and does affect others as well.
Learning how to take care of ourselves also involves making appropriate distinctions about ourselves, others and life in general. One distinction that is crucial for our well being is realizing how and from where much of our stress is primarily generated. While some of the stressors that we face are apart of what it is to be a human being, much of the stress that we experience is of our own creation. A great deal of the stress that we experience has its origin in our own personal story and the meaning we make about life, in the thoughts that we think. Once we understand that we are truly the cause in the matter, that we are responsible for the thoughts that we create or invent and that it is from these thoughts that much of our stress is generated, then and only then will we begin to be able to truly manage our stress and have the power to live the life that we want and love. Blaming others or situations for that which we experience will only limit our power, lead to frustration and eventually a great deal of stress.
Becoming present to the fact that we have a tendency to constantly evaluate, judge and even blame others, and especially ourselves, is very important. How we conceive of others and ourselves in this respect will make a huge difference in our experience of life. For example, for some much of their life is spent attempting to make others and themselves wrong, wrong for what they think and do, wrong for what we think and do. Once we make another wrong, especially ourselves, anger, anxiety, guilt, frustration and even sadness will eventually follow and with it a great deal of stress. A simple truth is that as human beings we are all doing the best that we can at any given moment. If we or others knew differently we would behave differently.
Another simple truth is that we are perfect, whole and complete just as we are. It is our story about ourselves that does not allow us to truly experience our own completeness. Making mistakes in life does not make us wrong or flawed in some way but only presents us with feedback and valuable opportunities for growth. Becoming present to how we make ourselves wrong, of how we put ourselves down, allows us an opening to realize that we are not what we do or think. Our true self is something much different. Becoming present to our attempts to make others and ourselves wrong in some manner will also create a cleaning for us to begin to think, feel and behave differently. Once we fully realize that we are perfect, whole and complete just as are, we will bring forth into our lives experiences that will truly empower us and others. It will be at this point that we will begin to authentically take care of ourselves. Taking care of ourselves in this respect will also involve taking care of our true self, of unconditionally loving ourselves completely. It is only when we truly love and accept ourselves, as we are, in the present moment that we will be able to do so with others. We always think, feel and behave towards others as we think, feel and act towards ourselves.
One manner in which we can practice being who we truly are is beginning to become aware of the thoughts and beliefs that exist within us including and especially those that are self-limiting. Meditation and other holistic, self-enhancement techniques of this nature allow us this ability and opportunity to watch, monitor and become present to our inner world, to the very thoughts that generate our life and experiences. Such a process will eventually allow us to truly understand that we are not our thoughts and beliefs, that we are something different from, that we are much more. Our thoughts are merely apart of the machinery of being human.
Once present to the thoughts and beliefs that quickly, if not instantly, move through our mind also allows us the opportunity to reframe from impulsively acting upon them and as a result to become free from their constraints and potential harm to us and others. Such a meditative process, especially as it applies to the thoughts and beliefs that we have about ourselves, is the key to truly taking care of yourself. Such awareness will eventually allow us to truly experience the fact that we are good enough, just as we are, one that deserves to have a wonderful and powerful life, that we truly are perfect, whole and complete. Once we fully understand this for ourselves it will allow us to get it about others, for those that we work with and for those in our lives that we love. The end result of such a meditative process is that much of the stress that we experience, especially that which we create, will simply not exist, allowing us to create or invent the life that we truly want and love and to live it powerfully.

How do your thoughts add up? Do they point towards what you want or something else? Are they scattered or focused? Which thoughts are winning?
What you are thinking all day long is guiding you into tomorrow and your future. Is your future looking like you want it to?

You have a choice about your thoughts, you can let them ramble along as they will or you can take command of them. Unfortunately letting them ramble on seems to default to the negative.
Why is this so when the universe is basically good? It is because of our free will. We can choose how to think and act.
In this regard life would be easier as a plant. Plants are guided to do what they are programmed to do. They don't know any better than to seek all they know. We humans on the other hand have this ability to choose about much of our existence.
But then there comes that responsibility thing. We are responsible for and subject to our thinking. Every thought is a request, asking the universe for something, which responds in like kind.
Years ago there was a descriptive concept related to this called "The cosmic waitress" The analogy is that whatever you ask the cosmic waitress, she brings. Each and every thought is your order and the universe/God delivers what you ordered.
So, if you are not seeing what you really want in your life, look to your thoughts. Develop the habit of noticing what you are thinking and specifically how you are reacting. A huge amount of your thoughts are wrapped up in habitual patterns that come about automatically, but they don't need to be allowed to.
Learning to take command of your thinking is your right and should be your desire if you want to grow and develop as you are intended. Thought command starts with noticing and catching your undesirable thoughts. Then analyzing them and deciding what thoughts would be a better fit with your desires.
There is no way to achieve a desire when the largest portions of your thoughts do not match the desire. Learn to switch this so that most thoughts DO support your desires.
Add them up at the end of the day. You can even calculate the time spent on each type of thoughts. It is really as simple as basic addition.
