Stop, Look and Listen!
Stop, Look and Listen!
In my experience, every event in our lives carries a message. Of course, some occurrences are more significant than others. These significant events are considered signs or messages from Spirit, or Higher Self. The purpose of all signs is to get our attention. For what reason? To get us to “Stop, Look, and Listen!” Listen to what? Our intuition.
An Ancient Tradition
Native peoples relate to every form of life as being alive, filled with energy and always communicating something to us. The key is in learning how to receive the communication.
“Omens are a way Spirit communicates with us in the physical world,” states shaman Ken Eagle Feather in Traveling with Power. “You can decipher omens from virtually anything, but pay special attention to unusual occurrences, whether it’s the strange behavior of birds, or conversations in which someone says something that catches your attention in a special way, or when a book falls off a shelf in front of you. You might find that messages on billboards change right in front of you, so that while others are reading an ordinary advertisement, you end up reading a message from Spirit. Be careful about being too strict in your interpretations, though. Remember, you are looking for guidance, not assurance. An omen might be the same for several people, or it might mean several different things. It’s up to you to create your personal omen dictionary. This open-ended response is called non-patterning, and it provides the space for Spirit to communicate with you.”
All Creations Speak to Us
Using personal experience as the means through which wisdom is gleaned (rather than through reading, thinking or analyzing), the practice of reading signs presents opportunities where you can begin to sense a real, interactive connection with everything else that exists, even those things believed to be inanimate such as rocks, plastic, glass or metal.
What Is a Sign?
A sign—by definition of its purpose—is anything in our outer environment that gets our attention. There are two broad categories of occurrences that are considered signs.
Anything Out of the Ordinary
Any occurrence qualifies as a sign that is so unusual, strange, weird, or out of the ordinary that it grabs our attention. It may be an event that is out of sequence or out of the usual pattern. A sign is any inexplicable happening, or any occurrence outside the box, outside our normal experience. Any object or event that stands out in some way is an omen. It may glow, feel electric, or is more pronounced than normal—like louder or brighter than usual. You might feel a resonance within your body when you’re next to an object or person. The scene or object may appear surreal, in extreme sharp focus or extremely vibrant in color.
Synchronicity Rules
A second major way that Spirit gets our attention is through synchronicity. Synchronicity grabs our attention by repeating events or patterns beyond the range of mathematical probability, beyond what could be considered happenstance. Synchronicity is a meaningful coincidence—a coincidence that takes on significance because it is very unlikely to normally occur. For example, it’s synchronistic when you encounter the same number, topic or person’s name more often than usual in one day. What synchronicities are showing up in your life?
Intuition Is the Arbiter
Our intuition is the ultimate decipher of the signs life gives us. Intuition is direct knowing—direct insight or perception—of the truth. Often you get an instinctive hit about the import of an event. You simply sense the meaning, have a “gut feeling” or just “know” what the Universe is trying to tell you.
This sixth sense may be immediate—or delayed. The meaning of a sign may be clarified later by a dream, vision, movie, song or image appearing soon afterwards in your life.
What If Your Intuition Isn’t Working?
Sometimes we can’t get a clear intuition about the meaning of a certain sign. We can narrow the field of possible meanings by asking ourselves some questions that focus our inquiry. Here are some questions that can help you hone in on the message your spirit is sending you.
What Is the Literal Meaning of the Sign?
The Universe is often direct and explicit. For instance, a stop sign usually indicates that you might need to stop what you are doing in some aspect of your life to take a closer look—and listen to your intuition for re-direction. A dead animal, plant or person might suggest that some aspect of your life is dead or dying—that is, that the way you are doing that part of your life is no longer working for you, or nurturing to you.
Once I was using a crosswalk when I saw a police officer in front of me pull a white sheet over the body of a man who had just been killed by a hit-and-run. The dead man in my path indicated to me that my relationship was dead between me and the group I was crossing the street to visit.
What Is the Function of the Sign in Your Life?
The function of your car is to get you to work. If your car won’t start one weekday morning, it might be a hint to take a look at whether that job is still intuitively right for you. Or perhaps you need to make some changes to HOW you do your job. If your computer crashes repeatedly when you are working on one particular project, maybe that project needs some intuitive re-alignment.
What Does the Sign Mean Symbolically in Your Culture?
In our culture, an eagle symbolizes freedom. Would creating more freedom and space somewhere in your life nurture your spirit? Also, when an eagle enters your world, it may be suggesting you take a higher vantage point to see more clearly.
What Does the Sign Mean Symbolically to You Personally?
An eagle might remind you of a specific personal experience or association. For example, an eagle might trigger a personal connection with the brand name of a car, a song by the band “The Eagles” or being an Eagle Scout.
Track Your Signs
Often one isolated sign isn’t enough of a hint for you to recognize the message Spirit is conveying. My native spiritual teachers recommend that you keep track of the various omens and signs that life throws your way. Write down all repeating patterns and synchronicities, whether or not they make sense or you understand their meaning. Make note of any images, memories, colors or any other signs that you encounter. You are collecting pieces of a big picture, your soul’s destiny. As with a jigsaw puzzle, once you have enough pieces, the overall picture begins to come into view.
Have fun! It’s a treasure hunt, and a joyful life journey is the prize!

Taking Care Of Yourself
Taking Care Of Yourself
Living in our world today can be very stressful. While some of the stress that we experience is actually useful for motivating us, a point can be reached where it becomes very harmful, physically, emotionally and even spiritually. Knowing how to manage and even reduce the harmful effects of stress on a daily basis, of staying balanced and centered as we encounter the many stressors of everyday living, is crucial to our well being. Among other things, taking care of ourselves will necessarily involve us nurturing our physical body, of eating healthy foods, of exercising. Learning how to take care of ourselves in this respect is also very important for everyone as our experience of stress can and does affect others as well.
Learning how to take care of ourselves also involves making appropriate distinctions about ourselves, others and life in general. One distinction that is crucial for our well being is realizing how and from where much of our stress is primarily generated. While some of the stressors that we face are apart of what it is to be a human being, much of the stress that we experience is of our own creation. A great deal of the stress that we experience has its origin in our own personal story and the meaning we make about life, in the thoughts that we think. Once we understand that we are truly the cause in the matter, that we are responsible for the thoughts that we create or invent and that it is from these thoughts that much of our stress is generated, then and only then will we begin to be able to truly manage our stress and have the power to live the life that we want and love. Blaming others or situations for that which we experience will only limit our power, lead to frustration and eventually a great deal of stress.
Becoming present to the fact that we have a tendency to constantly evaluate, judge and even blame others, and especially ourselves, is very important. How we conceive of others and ourselves in this respect will make a huge difference in our experience of life. For example, for some much of their life is spent attempting to make others and themselves wrong, wrong for what they think and do, wrong for what we think and do. Once we make another wrong, especially ourselves, anger, anxiety, guilt, frustration and even sadness will eventually follow and with it a great deal of stress. A simple truth is that as human beings we are all doing the best that we can at any given moment. If we or others knew differently we would behave differently.
Another simple truth is that we are perfect, whole and complete just as we are. It is our story about ourselves that does not allow us to truly experience our own completeness. Making mistakes in life does not make us wrong or flawed in some way but only presents us with feedback and valuable opportunities for growth. Becoming present to how we make ourselves wrong, of how we put ourselves down, allows us an opening to realize that we are not what we do or think. Our true self is something much different. Becoming present to our attempts to make others and ourselves wrong in some manner will also create a cleaning for us to begin to think, feel and behave differently. Once we fully realize that we are perfect, whole and complete just as are, we will bring forth into our lives experiences that will truly empower us and others. It will be at this point that we will begin to authentically take care of ourselves. Taking care of ourselves in this respect will also involve taking care of our true self, of unconditionally loving ourselves completely. It is only when we truly love and accept ourselves, as we are, in the present moment that we will be able to do so with others. We always think, feel and behave towards others as we think, feel and act towards ourselves.
One manner in which we can practice being who we truly are is beginning to become aware of the thoughts and beliefs that exist within us including and especially those that are self-limiting. Meditation and other holistic, self-enhancement techniques of this nature allow us this ability and opportunity to watch, monitor and become present to our inner world, to the very thoughts that generate our life and experiences. Such a process will eventually allow us to truly understand that we are not our thoughts and beliefs, that we are something different from, that we are much more. Our thoughts are merely apart of the machinery of being human.
Once present to the thoughts and beliefs that quickly, if not instantly, move through our mind also allows us the opportunity to reframe from impulsively acting upon them and as a result to become free from their constraints and potential harm to us and others. Such a meditative process, especially as it applies to the thoughts and beliefs that we have about ourselves, is the key to truly taking care of yourself. Such awareness will eventually allow us to truly experience the fact that we are good enough, just as we are, one that deserves to have a wonderful and powerful life, that we truly are perfect, whole and complete. Once we fully understand this for ourselves it will allow us to get it about others, for those that we work with and for those in our lives that we love. The end result of such a meditative process is that much of the stress that we experience, especially that which we create, will simply not exist, allowing us to create or invent the life that we truly want and love and to live it powerfully.

What Do Your Thoughts Add Up To?
What Do Your Thoughts Add Up To?
How do your thoughts add up? Do they point towards what you want or something else? Are they scattered or focused? Which thoughts are winning?
What you are thinking all day long is guiding you into tomorrow and your future. Is your future looking like you want it to?
"You are today where your thoughts have brought you; you will be tomorrow where your thoughts take you." - James Allen
You have a choice about your thoughts, you can let them ramble along as they will or you can take command of them. Unfortunately letting them ramble on seems to default to the negative.
Why is this so when the universe is basically good? It is because of our free will. We can choose how to think and act.
In this regard life would be easier as a plant. Plants are guided to do what they are programmed to do. They don't know any better than to seek all they know. We humans on the other hand have this ability to choose about much of our existence.
But then there comes that responsibility thing. We are responsible for and subject to our thinking. Every thought is a request, asking the universe for something, which responds in like kind.
Years ago there was a descriptive concept related to this called "The cosmic waitress" The analogy is that whatever you ask the cosmic waitress, she brings. Each and every thought is your order and the universe/God delivers what you ordered.
So, if you are not seeing what you really want in your life, look to your thoughts. Develop the habit of noticing what you are thinking and specifically how you are reacting. A huge amount of your thoughts are wrapped up in habitual patterns that come about automatically, but they don't need to be allowed to.
Learning to take command of your thinking is your right and should be your desire if you want to grow and develop as you are intended. Thought command starts with noticing and catching your undesirable thoughts. Then analyzing them and deciding what thoughts would be a better fit with your desires.
There is no way to achieve a desire when the largest portions of your thoughts do not match the desire. Learn to switch this so that most thoughts DO support your desires.
Add them up at the end of the day. You can even calculate the time spent on each type of thoughts. It is really as simple as basic addition.
Another way to look at it is to visualize a double balance scale, the kind that has a pan on each side to place objects to compare to each other. Like a seesaw. Imagine placing the thoughts that are supportive to your cause on one side and the non-supportive thoughts on the other. Which side has more weight to it? Guess what you are getting. Even if it is even, you still don't the clarity of thought needed for good results.
The desired and supportive thoughts must heavily outweigh the other.
"Everything you are against weakens you. Everything you are for empowers you." -- Wayne Dyer
You can do something about this; you can change the type and quantity of thoughts you have throughout the day. It takes more than thinking about it once in a while. You will have much greater results with this or anything you are working on to change when you do something interactively with yourself rather than just occasionally thinking about it. Effecting change takes clearly directed effort over a period of time
Look at your thoughts, analyze them, adjust them, and replace them until you are supporting what you want with your thought, attitude and behavior.
What to do -
1-At the end of the day, get quiet, think about the day, write down your thoughts.
2-Ponder what you have noticed, compare against you deep desires, think about what and how you could do differently - write that down.
3-How did you react to things?
4-How did you treat other people?
5-Did you exhibit frustration?
6-Were you afraid?
7-Ask many questions of yourself.
8-Meditate or pray about them.
9-Decide what you could do differently to be the kind of person that supports your desires. What would you think and do?
10-Continue this, day by day you will get more perceptive about your thinking and behavior, eventually you will catch yourself doing something and them change your habitual behavior to that which you desire.
"Your mind will be like its habitual thoughts; for the soul becomes dyed with the color of its thoughts. Soak it then in such trains of thoughts as, for example: Where life is possible at all, a right life is possible." Marcus Aurelius
You must be wholly the kind of person who fully supports your desires. You must align yourself with the source of all and the specific attributes you intend to be involved with. If you do a lot of complaining or worrying, those are the attributes you are choosing.
Take charge of your personal development, do this now. Think carefully and choose right, it's all there for you.
"To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives." --Henry David Thoreau
"Whereas the average individuals "often have not the slightest idea of what they are, of what they want, of what their own opinions are," self-actualizing individuals have "superior awareness of their own impulses, desires, opinions, and subjective reactions in general." - - Abraham Maslow
"There is a great idea that you will encounter again and again on your quest: you are a living magnet, constantly drawing to you the things, the people, and the circumstances which are in accord with your thoughts. In other words, you are where you are in experience, in relationships, even in financial conditions, because of what you are (which is where you are in consciousness)." - - Eric Butterworth

How to make use of your alone times.
How to make use of your alone times.
Many people dread the times when they are left alone. They feel a sense of emptiness or boredom. They start to look out for things to do or people to talk to. Some get into habits like shopping, eating, watching too much television or anything else to "kill the time."
Anytime is a good time to observe your moment to moment existence. But your alone times give you the chance to look deeper and notice the stimulus that cause the circumstances that you have created.
Alone times are actually what you may need to cure your dysfunctional feelings and behaviors.
How to make use of your alone times.
Watch what is going on inside you.
The noise that is going around you daily makes it difficult to become aware of what is actually going on internally. When you are alone and there is no distraction, you can sit and watch your feelings and thoughts. You are able to see those internal pictures that your mind is showing and the voices that is going back and forth in your head.
Being able to do this regularly will show you that your experiences in life are the results of what you see and hear inside. You can then change your external situations by changing the pictures and voices deliberately that have formed your beliefs and behaviors.
Watch those things existing and happening outside.
When you watch other people doing things, you will notice that they do things and act in ways that produce certain outcomes. You will hear voices that inspire as well as those that put themselves or others down. You will witness how people treat each other.
Watching nature and life itself should instill gratitude and awe. Regardless of what is happening around, the sun still rises and sets each day. The seasons come and go. Flowers blossom, and then wither and new ones will sprout. And there’s nothing you can do to change that.
Log your thoughts, feelings and observations in your journal.
The alone times are great moments to log your internal and external thoughts and observations. This is the time to check and measure your productivity and activities over a period of time to see whether you are making progress.
You can use this opportunity to reevaluate your strengths and weaknesses. Check on your goals too and check out what you have accomplished. If you have not written your goals down, it is about time that you do so.
Just Be.
At times, just sit down quietly and focus on your breath. Don’t resist and fight any thoughts or feelings. Redirect and refocus to your breathing with each inhalation and exhalation. It relaxes and quiets your mind. In your daily world of chaos and stress, you may need this time to find peace within.

Water Treatment Systems
Reverse osmosis systems, water filters, and distillers all promise sparkling, clean water, but how do you know which one is really best? With a little research, you can find the ideal water treatment system for you.
Water is vital to everyday life, and throughout history people have devised systems to make getting and using it more convenient. Water is treated to achieve water quality objectives for the end uses. In the case of potable water supply, water is treated to minimize risk of infectious disease transmittal, risk of non-infectious illness, and create a palatable water flavor.
Water conveyance systems are designed and built to provide adequate water pressure, and flow rates to meet various end-user needs such as fire suppression, showering, and irrigation.
